Bodegas del Medievo since its establishment as a company has been characterized by continuous investment in the development of R+D projects.
Its Technical Director, the oenologist Santiago Garde, had already participated since the 90s in different investigations. Collaborating with centers such as the Navarra Oenological Station, where he had an internship, at the Haro Oenological Station where he carried out his end-of-year Master´s proyect and at the Public Universitie of Navarra and the University of La Rioja. In the last one where he got his tittle he has been also accredited in research proficiency in the area of knowledge of applied physics.
The R+D projects carried out by bodegas del Medievo, always in collaboration with the Center for Industrial Technological Development (CDTI) and the Government of La Rioja, have been reflected in our wines, from the first project that allowed us to recover carbonic macerations in Rioja Baja, to the successive ones, related to the newly planted white grapes in Rioja, Tempranillo Blanco, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay, until the last works related to the Garnacha variety.
We have also participated in international projects, in this case as collaborators with Italian, French, Austrian, Argentine universities and R&D centers, always supporting whatever initiatives have been proposed to us.
